"BLESS MY GOOD RIGHT ARM"

A Kingdom Hearts II.9 prelude

Synopsis: After Riku is named Keyblade Master, Sora leaves Yen Sid's tower alone, claiming there's something he has to do. He returns to Traverse Town in the Sleeping Realm, looking for the Spirit companions that have helped him on his journey.

Estimated length: 15-20min.

This Twine interactive story is an alternate tutorial to Kingdom Hearts III, meant to be played right after the opening cinematic. It replaces the canon tutorial, or rather ties it more clearly into the narrative. It is also a study of the main character's state of mind at the start of this new adventure.

Whether you are new to the series or a long-time fan, I hope you enjoy these little missing scenes :)

All background pictures are reworked screenshots from the original games.

more a fanfiction then alternate tutorial in my personal opinion, but i highly appreciate to see works of passion from the Kingdom Hearts Comunity :)

(in my verry personal opinion: Sora felt a little too out of character, with the somberness and selfdoubt in such a tutorialistic setting, wich are also supposed to introduce you to the basic character of sora. And in my opinion he wouldnt negatively remenisce on the events of DDD that much, in this way.)

Thank you for reading and sharing those thoughts!

I actually agree with you to some extent. Thinking about how Sora would look to new players, if this were their very first introduction to the character, I wondered if it was too dark, so it's interesting to read that you felt the same.

In the end, I decided that it wasn't the real tutorial, so I'd rather make a point of fleshing out blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments of sombreness in Sora's character, and open a conversation about details that hit me hard emotionally in canon, specifically his unbelievable positivity at the end of DDD and that moment in the 0.2/KH3 Mysterious Tower scene when his cheerful attitude melts away for a few seconds.

I do believe self-doubt (and how he shakes it off, overcomes or suppresses it) is part of Sora's base character and that it's particularly important in the story of KH3. How much of it should be shown to new players in a tutorial segment is definitely the question I ended up with after writing this fanfic.

So, again, thank you for bringing it up!

you are very welcome! sora's positive "it wont bring me down" attitude, or later in KH3 "its bad, but i wont give up!" attitude has always been verry inspiring to me personally.

thank you for sharing the love for this franchise on here in this way! ^^
